12 month well visit

The not-so-fun part of turning one is that you have to go to the doctor's office....booo. Reese had her 12 month well visit yesterday and did very....well. The doctor said she is meeting all of her milestones, looks very healthy, has beautiful red hair, is very strong, is presenting with appropriate levels of stranger anxiety, and was impressed by her sign language. The nurses laughed that Reese can say Paco and Daddy, but not mommy and promised that she'll say it soon. She grew 2.5 inches since her 9month appointment and is now 28.5 inches tall, which is in the 26th percentile. She only gained 12oz since her 9 month appointment and is now 16lbs and 12oz, which is in the 1st percentile. Her head circumference is 17 1/8th inches which is in the 10th percentile. She got her HepA and Chickenpox shots as well as a TB test. Later this week she'll go for some additional bloodwork to check her lead and iron levels. The doctor is also going to run some additional tests just to rule out any type of blood sugar or thyroid issues due to her very slow weight gain, although this is just precautionary and no additional blood needs to be taken nor does the doctor anticipate any problems....she's just a petite little girl. We also recieved a referral to the pediatric opthomologist to have her clogged tear duct looked at and I'm pretty sure they're going to want to probe it at this time since its been a clogged for the whole year. And we go back to the pediatrician in 6 weeks for a weight check to see if she's gained by then...in the mean time, we were instructed to give her as much protein, dairy, and carbs as she wants which is pretty much what we've been doing all along...its just that she doesn't want very much. The doctor also agreed that its best to keep her on breastmilk at this time rather than transition to regular milk due to her limited food intake.
So overall, a good appointment and we'll keep you posted on our skinny minnie.
