state fair

We took Reese to the State Fair the other day. She loves animals and after we told her the ones we could see at the fair, she said "kay" (ok) and we made the long drive up. At first she was confused and a little intimdated by the animals, especially the big cows when they moved to look her way. But after a while she was running free and a lot less nervous. She didn't really reach out to touch many, but she never stopped signing for "more" animals. One thing we found out that Reese DOES NOT like...people dressed up in animal/character costumes. No way! She hid her face in my shoulder, yelled "no no no!" and then kept a watchful eye on where that big scary chicken (it was a kid dresssed up in a chicken costume, maybe 4 feet tall) went for the rest of the time we were near him. We saw ALL kinds on animals and here are some of Reese's faves...except we're missing a pic of the racing pigs which was my favorite. tigers

donkeys (she's making the more sign)

elephant (she puts her hand on her nose and makes the correct sound, which we didn't know she knew until the moment she saw the elephant)

bunnies go "hop hop" according to Reese

uh-oh, who broke the eggs?

this is what she was looking at in that first picture. the cows were HUGE and completely freaked her out.

And although she didn't want to touch the horses, she did love watching the kids compete on them. They ran, trotted, walked, and turned around in circles and she really liked watching that.
